Though sleep requirements will vary, most adults need between 7.5-9 hours of sleep per night to function at their best. Unfortunately, according to a 2013 Gallup poll, approximately 40% of Americans are sleep deprived, averaging 6.8 hour per sleep per night. This number is down 1 hour from a similar study conducted in 1942.
With so much smart technology, it is easy to now track your sleep and understand how well you are sleeping and how many hours you are getting per night.
This week, make a point to track your sleep nightly. If you have a device that can do this, utilize it; otherwise, take note of the times you went to bed and got up. We found it surprising that here at The Habit Project our actual sleep was much less than we thought. It has helped us start making some habit changes of our own to make sleep more of a priority.
